They reject messages by default, unless specifically accepted by configured policies.
The age-old rule for the DMZ is to terminate client connections there and then proxy connections to the backend from the trusted DMZ servers. Consider the repercussion of parsing and validating the storm of XML/SOAP documents that hit your systems during peak production levels.
