Freshmen lawmakers arrive in Washington with lofty hopes of working across the aisle to achieve bipartisan success | killexams.com actual questions and Pass4sure dumps

This is a rush transcript from "Fox intelligence Sunday," January 6, 2019. This copy may not breathe in its final form and may breathe updated.

CHRIS WALLACE, HOST: I'm Chris Wallace.

Shutdown, day 16, and President Trump is quiet deadlocked with House Democrats over the brim wall.

    (BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER, D-N.Y., SENATE MINORITY LEADER: He said he'd reserve the government closed for a very long term of time, months or even years.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Absolutely I said that.

I'm very proud of doing what I'm doing.

WALLACE: With Nancy Pelosi back as speaker, we'll argue the fresh challenges facing the president in this era of divided government with White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.

And we'll find out what House Democrats hope to accomplish from congressional leader David Cicilline.

Plus, President Trump takes incoming from both sides.

SEN. MITT ROMNEY, R-UT: I haven't decided who I'm going to endorse in 2020. I'm going to wait to see what the alternatives are.

REP. RASHIDA TLAIB, D-MICH.: They are going to retract in there and we're going to impeach the mother (EXPLETIVE DELETED).

WALLACE: We'll inquire of their Sunday panel about an even tougher road for the president in Washington.

And their "Power Players of the Week." Two fresh members of Congress and how they intend to toil across the aisle to secure things done.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: For me, its mission. And when you are serving in the CIA and the military, you wake up everyday and you know what you're doing and why you're doing it, and I deem it's no different in Congress.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We've got to start socializing together. The polarization, the balkanization has taken us apart.

WALLACE: every bit of right now on "Fox intelligence Sunday".

    (END VIDEOTAPE)

WALLACE: And hello again from FOX intelligence in Washington.

President Trump now says the government shutdown could retract on for months or even years. With the standoff over the brim wall now in its third week, White House officials and congressional staffers met Saturday to toil towards a deal, but prospects for a breakthrough remain dim as the fresh Democratic majority in the House seems determined to stand up to President Trump.

In a moment, we'll converse with White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, but first, let's bring in Kevin Corke live at the White House with the latest on talks between the two sides -- Kevin.

KEVIN CORKE, CORRESPONDENT: Chris, with no halt to the shutdown in sight, top White House officials will unite the president at Camp David today for a 2019 agenda strategy session, and as you can imagine, at the top of the list, ending the shutdown.

    (BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

CORKE: From the Situation Room, Rose Garden, briefing and cabinet rooms, and this weekend, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, President Trump carefully crafted a forward leaning stance during the shutdown this week but for every bit of the crime statistics and letters to Congress imploring lawmakers to fund brim security including the wall, an ominous realization has a cast a pall over the nation's capital, with no symptom of movement in the negotiations, a partial government shutdown is unlikely to halt anytime soon.

SCHUMER: It's very hard to see how progress would breathe made unless they open up the government.

CORKE: Now, 16 days into the shutdown, it is clear that despite increased face-to-face engagement, cooler heads haven't prevailed. In fact, the president turned up the heat, warning that he would deem using a national emergency to secure his wall funding if Democrats won't budge.

TRUMP: Absolutely. They can achieve it. I haven't done it. I may achieve it. I may achieve it.

    (END VIDEOTAPE)

CORKE: So, while the president stays here and then heads to Camp David, remaining in Washington will breathe Vice President Mike Pence. In fact, he will breathe here conducting yet another working discussion with congressional Democrats who, of course, are here with their staffers hoping to find a way, Chris, to halt the shutdown.

WALLACE: Kevin Corke reporting from the White House -- Kevin, thank you.

And joining me now here in the studio, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders.

Sarah, welcome back to "Fox intelligence Sunday".

SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY: august to breathe with you.

WALLACE: So. What is the latest on the negotiations? Did they acquire any progress yesterday?

SANDERS: Well, they made some progress yesterday. The fact that they're sitting down at the table is some progress, in and of itself. But, they've got a long route to go. I mean, Democrats set down, the first thing that one of the individuals from the Democrats' side said in the meeting was, we're not here to acquire an agreement.

So, this was the birth of a conversation that quiet has I deem a lot left to breathe worked out. They're going to meet again later this afternoon, and hopefully, they'll continue to acquire progress and continue to budge the ball down the field.

At the halt of the day, though, Democrats own said over and over again that they support brim security, that they support protecting American citizens -- now, it's time to fulfill some of those statements that they've made -- toil with the president, let's secure this done; let's open the government back up.

WALLACE: Well, of course, the question is -- is the wall the best route to achieve it? And I'm going to inquire of you about that in a minute.

But again, going back to Friday, the president meant what he said, that he is prepared to fight for the wall, to continue the shutdown for months or even years?

SANDERS: Well, I deem that's one of the things that people misunderstand. The president's not fighting for the wall; he's fighting for the protection of American citizens.

    We cannot --

WALLACE: But he wants the wall to achieve that.

SANDERS: Absolutely. He wants the wall and he wants a number of other things. They own a completely broken immigration system. They own national crisis, not just of safety and security, but a humanitarian crisis.

We own drugs, they own human traffickers, they own terrorists that approach across their brim and there has to breathe a desist to that and they want to achieve -- not just the wall; certainly that's one of the most considerable factors. They know that it works; they know that in the places that it's been, it's 95 percent effective.

We want to breathe efficient across the board and that includes the wall and other technology along the --

WALLACE: But you're not answering my question. He meant what he said. He's prepared to continue this fight, this shutdown, for months or even years?

SANDERS: Absolutely, the president means what he says when he says that. But it would breathe monstrous for Democrats who accord with the president -- that's what's the most monstrous thing to me, and something that frankly is so just incomprehensible -- they accord with the president. They accord that they need brim security. They just are unwilling to let this president win.

And I deem at some point they own to select that they pervade more about Americans than fighting the president. And so far, they haven't seen a willingness on their side to fully achieve that.

WALLACE: But let's talk about caring about Americans, because House Democrats this week passed six bills that would fund eight agencies, unrelated to Homeland Security, unrelated to the wall, that would secure them back going right now.

And the question is, why not symptom that bill, fund those agencies that own nothing to achieve with the brim wall, and not hold those hundreds of thousands of federal workers, and the services they provide, hostage?

SANDERS: We're not holding anybody hostage. The president wants to fund the government; he wants to open the government --

WALLACE: But you could open those eight other agencies.

SANDERS: Chris, we've been having this debate for years. At some point, they own to say, enough is enough. Until they can approach together, they can breathe reasonable, which they own attach forth in expedient faith multiple offers to Democrats to say, let's acquire a deal. Let's own a discussion; let's secure to a location where they agree.

We own to desist kicking the can down the road and just continuing to say, let's achieve it again in 30 days. Let's achieve it in 45 days.

    Let's achieve it now.

WALLACE: No, no, no. But achieve you -- but I'm not talking about Homeland Security. That -- you can continue to fight about that, if you want, and you shut it down -- but why hold agriculture hostage? Why hold justice hostage? Why hold the Treasury Department hostage?

Why not fund them? They own nothing to achieve with a brim wall.

SANDERS: The president wants to achieve this every bit of at once. He knows it's better if they can focus on getting every bit of of these packages done at one time.

WALLACE: Isn't the actual reason, because you want the leverage from every bit of the agencies?

SANDERS: It's not just -- it's not that. But you besides own to explore at the six bills. Those aren't the budget that they submitted, either. There are a lot of discrepancies between what they --

WALLACE: Those own every bit of been approved by Republicans in the Senate.

SANDERS: They have. I'm not adage they fight those six. I'm just saying, to acquire it enjoy this is an simple deal; they want to breathe able to negotiate, but at the same time you can't just reserve passing the buck. This is a major point of contention. And let's just sit down and toil it out.

WALLACE: OK. But if this shutdown lags on, not months or years, but even in to February, it's going to start to rack actual people.

Take a explore at this, Sarah. Federal tax refunds will breathe delayed. Food stamps for 38 million Americans will breathe cut. Millions of people will lose rental assistance payments and union leaders squawk hundreds of TSA workers are already off the job because they can't afford to secure to work. President Trump thinks the brim wall is worth every bit of of that?

SANDERS: Look, the president certainly doesn't want any of those things to happen. But you know what else he doesn't want to see happen? He never wants to acquire a phone convoke enjoy the one he made earlier this week, where he spoke to Officer Singh of California's widow because an illegal immigrant came up off their brim and killed him in detached blood. This shouldn't happen in this country, particularly when they own things that they know can attend obviate it.

Every life -- that's what sets America apart from every other country; they value life. That it's what makes us unique. And the day that they desist doing that, even if it's one, 10 or 100,000, that's when they desist being the greatest country on the countenance of this earth.

Not only people enjoy that, but they besides own a massive influx of drugs that approach across the southern border. Ninety percent of the heroin that comes into this country comes across through the southern brim and 300 Americans are killed from that every sole month.

    WALLACE: But let's talk --

SANDERS: They own to explore at it across the board.

WALLACE: Let's talk about the wall. Because there is no question that there has been a august spike in the number of family units coming across the border.

The president talks about terrorists potentially coming across the border. And here is Secretary of Homeland Security Nielsen. hold a look.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KIRSTJEN NIELSEN, SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY: The CBP has stopped over 3,000 what they convoke "Special Interest Aliens" trying to approach into the country in the southern border. Those are aliens who the intel community has identified are of concern.

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: But Special Interest Aliens are just people who approach from countries that own ever produced a terrorist. They're not terrorists themselves. And the condition Department says that there is, quote, their words: no credible evidence of any terrorist coming across the brim from Mexico.

SANDERS: They know that roughly, nearly 4,000 known or suspected terrorists approach into their country illegally, and they know that their most vulnerable point of entry is at their southern border.

WALLACE: Wait, wait, wait -- I know the statistic; I didn't know you were going to consume it. But I studied up on this.

Do you know where those 4,000 people approach -- where they're captured? Airports.

    SANDERS: Not always.

    WALLACE: At airports.

SANDERS: Certainly a great number --

WALLACE: The condition Department says there hasn't been any terrorists that they've organize coming across the southern brim with Mexico.

SANDERS: It's by air, it's by land and it's by sea. It's every bit of of the above. But one thing that you're forgetting is that the most vulnerable point of entry that they own into this country is their southern border, and they own to protect it.

And the more individuals that --

    (CROSSTALK)

WALLACE: But they're not coming across the southern border, Sarah. They're coming and they're being stopped at airports.

SANDERS: They're coming a number of ways. They're certainly -- I'm not disagreeing with you that they're coming through airports. I'm adage that they approach by air, by land and by sea.

And the more and more that their brim becomes vulnerable and the less and less that they expend time and money protecting it, the more that we're going to own an influx, not just of terrorists but of human traffickers, drug inflow and people that are coming here to achieve American citizens harm.

WALLACE: OK. The president now says, and this was a revelation on Friday, that he can retract around Congress and build this wall on his own. hold a look.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TRUMP: They can convoke a national emergency, because of the security of their country, absolutely. No, they can achieve it. I haven't done it. I may achieve it. I may achieve it. But they could convoke a national emergency and build it very quickly.

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: How serious is he about that? Has the White House drafted an emergency order? A resolution that he could, that he could -- that he could announce tomorrow -- we're going to declare a national emergency; we're going to build the wall. Has he set a deadline for when he's going to halt talks and simply say, I'm going to retract off on my own and achieve it? And is he really prepared --

SANDERS: That's a lot of questions.

    WALLACE: Well, three.

    (CROSSTALK)

WALLACE: Is he really prepared -- it's quiet the same question, which is - - how serious is he? Is he really prepared to retract off on his own and consume money that was authorized for military construction and build a wall instead?

SANDERS: The president's prepared to achieve what it takes to protect their borders, to protect the people of this country; he knows that the number one job he has as president and commander-in-chief is to protect its citizens. And if he doesn't hold that seriously, whether it's at their southern brim or whether it's from terrorists coming from whatever route they come, or any other location that --

WALLACE: And does he really deem he has --

SANDERS: -- they can try to achieve harm to Americans, then he is not going to breathe the president that he knows himself to be, and he has shown himself to breathe over the last two years.

WALLACE: And he really, just quickly -- does he really deem that he has the authority to build the wall with funds that were appropriated for the military construction without congressional approval?

SANDERS: As we've said for the last several weeks, we're looking and exploring every option available that the president has, whether --

WALLACE: And is that a viable option?

SANDERS: Whatever action he takes will certainly breathe lawful and we're looking at every option they can. This is something the president takes incredibly seriously, is very passionate about, and is not going to desist until he figures out the best route to acquire positive we're doing everything they can to acquire America safer and more secure.

WALLACE: I've got less than a minute left.

President Trump is at Camp David today to meet with White House senior officials about his priorities for 2019.

What can you bid us about the meeting and about what his agenda is?

SANDERS: They had an incredible first two years under the President Trump. The economy is strong. ISIS has been on the run. The judiciary is being made.

We own just a number of successes over these first two years. They want to explore at how we're going to continue to build on those as they budge into 2020.

    WALLACE: Top priority?

SANDERS: I deem the president's got a lot. Immigration certainly has to breathe at the forefront. right now, that's one of the biggest things that they own to secure done is securing their border.

But not just securing the border, but fixing the immigration system as a whole; it's completely broken. The president wants to acquire positive they explore at every bit of of the different things, loopholes they can close, to acquire that better. Infrastructure, fighting the opioid head -- those are going to breathe things that besides not only are the president's august priorities, but things they deem they might breathe able to secure Democrats to actually toil with us.

The American people elected them to approach here and achieve more than just fight the president and they hope that they'll fulfill their constituents' hopes for them and achieve exactly that.

    WALLACE: Sarah, thank you.

    SANDERS: Thank you.

WALLACE: Thanks for coming in today. Always expedient to talk to you.

SANDERS: Always august to breathe here.

WALLACE: Up next, reaction from a top House Democrat - what's their route to halt the shutdown? And what about those calls to impeach the president?

    (COMMERCIAL BREAK)

WALLACE: House Democrats own an ambitious agenda as they hold over the majority from infrastructure to health care, to investigations of the Trump administration. But their first priority is to halt the government shutdown.

Joining us now from Rhode Island, one of their fresh leaders, Congressman David Cicilline, chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.

Congressman, what's the latest on where negotiations stand? Are your -- is your side willing to compromise with the president on the brim wall, or are you, in effect, demanding his surrender?

REP. DAVID CICILLINE, D-R.I.: No, I don't deem they are demanding a surrender, but what we're demanding is that the government breathe reopened. They passed appropriations bill that were passed unanimously by the Senate. They were supported by Republicans. There was an agreement on those bills.

The president at the last minute changed his intelligence and that deal fell apart. So, they are trying to sequester the disagreement. So, they passed again the Senate approved version that -- it was the Republican path forward. That passed the House in a bipartisan route with Republicans and Democrats. They sent that to the Senate.

What they are adage is open of the government. We'll own a short-term extension so they can resolve this disagreement. But they need to reopen the government and the president has really held this --

    WALLACE: I just --

    CICILLINE: I'm sorry.

WALLACE: Let me just interrupt for a second, because Speaker Pelosi and Democratic Senate Leader Schumer own been hinting at this on Friday after the meeting, is that the Democratic view know that there can breathe no negotiations on the brim wall at every bit of until the president agrees to reopen the relaxation of the government?

CICILLINE: I mean, I deem they believe the government must reopen immediately. I mean, it's having actual consequences not only to the federal workers, but to the contrary, in terms of food stamps, in terms of tax refunds, in terms of the safety at the airports with the TSA. I mean, there are actual consequences to a prolonged shutdown. The president doesn't seem to understand that but it's really impacting small business. It's impacting people's lives.

And so, what they are adage is open the government. There's agreement, bipartisan agreement on funding the government. Let's sequester the disagreement, the Department of Homeland Security and continue talking.

WALLACE: every bit of right. Let's talk about the merits of a brim wall. Here's what fresh Speaker Nancy Pelosi says.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

REP. NANCY PELOSI, D-CALIF., SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE: They are not doing a wall. Does anybody own any doubt that they are not doing a wall? The wall, in my view, is an immorality. It is, again, a dissipate of money and break cost to protect the American people. But it is a diversionary tactic on the fragment of the president.

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: I want to inquire of you a specific question, Congressman, why is a wall immoral? I'm not asking why it's ineffective or why you deem the money could breathe spent better, but the speaker keeps adage the wall is immoral. There's a wall or a fence around the White House. People build walls around their homes.

Why is a brim wall immoral?

CICILLINE: I deem what the speaker is adage is that they believe in securing their borders. They own appropriated $1.7 billion over the last two years for brim security. The department has spent less than 6 percent. But they are prepared to achieve more because they need to achieve more, but they want to achieve it in a route that's effective.

    (CROSSTALK)

WALLACE: If I may just press, why is a wall immoral?

CICILLINE: Well, that's a question the speaker will own to answer, but I deem what she means by that is it doesn't reflect their values as a country, that America has been a location that welcomes refugees and immigrants, people who are fleeing violence and war.

But I deem the actual point of that, the relaxation of her sentence is it's not cost-effective. It doesn't achieve the objective. Democrats are committing to securing their borders. They own voted to secure their borders and confiscate significant resources to achieve it.

    WALLACE: OK.

CICILLINE: But let's consume technology, let's consume drones, let's consume satellites, let's achieve cargo inspections, which aren't happening. Let's achieve things that will actually secure the border.

WALLACE: OK. But let's talk about the effectiveness of it. Brandon Judd is the president of the National brim Patrol Council. He's been a brim patrol agent for 21 years. Here's what he says.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BRANDON JUDD, NATIONAL brim PATROL COUNCIL PRESIDENT: Anywhere that you explore where they own built walls, they own worked. They own been an absolute necessity for brim patrol agents in securing the border.

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: Here's a guy who has been on the front lines, on the brim for two decades. He says brim walls work.

CICILLINE: Well, look, I deem there's no question there are places they own walls and fencing and other benign of barriers. I deem expedient brim security is going to breathe a combination of things. But what we've heard of from the president is he wants a august great concrete wall that will breathe a thousand miles --

    (CROSSTALK)

WALLACE: No, no, he's given up on the concrete wall. He is talking about steel fencing out.

CICILLINE: But I deem the reality is this is actually a fight the president has created to distract from the actual issues that he's facing. The fact is the Republicans were in control of the House, the Senate and the White House for two years.

And if this is such an considerable priority for the president, why didn't he achieve it at the birth of the administration? He waited to the lame duck. Why? Because his defense secretary left with a sturdy rebuke of his quaint policy, his national security advisors sentencing hearing blowup because of the seriousness of the charges. His foundation was closed on for persistent illegalities. The gentleman heading the ISIS pains resigned.

    WALLACE: OK.

CICILLINE: It was a groundwork pair of weeks. So what does the president do? He shuts the government down and he's distracted every bit of the attention away from every bit of of those pressing issues to the government shutdown.

WALLACE: But, sir, the fact is, even "The Washington Post" today said that there is now a head at the border. There has been a histrionic spike in the number of family units coming across the southern border.

I want to attach up some statistics. In November of 2017, a year plus ago, the brim patrol apprehended 7,000 family units at their southwest border. This past November, two months ago, they caught 25,000 family units coming across.

And explore at these recent incidents were brim patrol agents had to fire split gas at migrants who were trying to climb the fence and who were throwing rocks at the brim agents.

I mean, Congressman, the president is not making this up.

CICILLINE: No, the reality is this is a complicated problem. It requires a sophisticated avow and I deem the incoming chief of staff for the president and the outgoing chief of staff own both set up brim wall doesn't solve this problem.

We need to own comprehensive immigration reform. They need to own additional personnel. They need to consume technology. So they want to secure their brim and respond to these challenges but they want to achieve it in a route that works, a route that will achieve the objective.

And so, what they are adage to the president is open up the government. These other departments own nothing to achieve with this. achieve not castigate the American people by shutting down government if you don't secure your way.

WALLACE: every bit of right. I got --

    CICILLINE: And --

WALLACE: Let me just interrupt because I own two minutes left and I want to secure to questions in.

    CICILLINE: Sure.

WALLACE: The president said on Friday that he has the right, and he's even considering, and you heard it from Sarah Sanders just a minute ago, declaring a national emergency and building a wall in his own without congressional approval using funds that own been appropriated for military construction. If he goes ahead and does that, what will House Democrats enjoy yourself do?

CICILLINE: Well, I don't deem the president has that authority. He would own to meet a very lofty standard. Article One establishes the Congress of the United States and gives us the responsibility of appropriating money.

So I don't deem the president has the authority to achieve that, and I hope you will continue to try to toil with Congress to resolve this disagreement but open the government first. This -- the government will reopen when the Republicans in the Senate and the president approach to their senses and recognize that they shouldn't breathe shutting down the government if they don't secure their way.

WALLACE: Finally, I've got less than a minute, finally, freshman Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib -- and I know you were expecting this question -- of Michigan said this on Thursday night.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

REP. RASHIDA TLAIB, D-MICH.: When your son looks at you and says, mama, look, you won. Bullies don't win. And I said, baby, they don't, because we're going to retract in there and we're going to the mother (EXPLETIVE DELETED).

    (CHEERS)

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: What achieve you deem of the language and what achieve you deem of the view of moving right away to impeach President Trump?

CICILLINE: Well, look, Democrats ran on the agenda for the people, to drive down health pervade costs, drive down the cost of prescription drugs, raise family incomes by rebuilding American.

WALLACE: I got every bit of of that and I got a small time but specifically --

    (CROSSTALK)

CICILLINE: Look, I deem they need to budge forward on their agenda. At the same time, their caucus is august and diverse and people are bringing their passions and reflecting the sturdy feelings of their constituents, and there are a number of people who deem they should budge quickly on impeachment. I'm one of the people who deem they own to wait for Mr. Mueller to complete his report so they know every bit of the facts before they hold any action.

WALLACE: And really quick, yes or no, achieve you condemn that language?

CICILLINE: explore -- I'm not going to -- look, it's benign of odd to hear people on the Republican side who own not condemned the president's language in a million of different contexts to suddenly breathe clutching their pearls over her consume of that language. Like, look, this is a private event, she can consume whatever language she thinks is appropriate. The fundamental issues Democrats are fighting for the people of this country and we're going to focus on the issues that matter in their lives, and we're going to achieve their oversight responsibilities in a serious way.

WALLACE: Congressman Cicilline, thank you. Thanks for your time, sir. delight approach back.

CICILLINE: I will. Thanks for having me.

WALLACE: Up next, how long will the shutdown drag on? We'll bring in their Sunday group to argue the deadlock and when most Americans will start feeling the pain.

    (COMMERCIAL BREAK)

WALLACE: Coming up, the shutdown over the brim wall tests the fresh divide in Washington.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TRUMP: Without a wall, you cannot own brim security.

PELOSI: We're not doing the wall. Does anybody own any doubt that they are not doing a wall?

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: We'll inquire of their Sunday panel about the political power struggle, next.

    (COMMERCIAL BREAK)

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TRUMP: The southern brim is a dangerous, horrible disaster. We've done a august job, but you can't really achieve the benign of job they own to achieve unless you own a major powerful barrier.

PELOSI: They recognize on the Democratic side that they really cannot resolve this until they open up government. And they made that very clear to the president.

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: President Trump and House Speaker Pelosi giving no symptom of progress in talks to halt the partial government shutdown and resolve the fight over funding for a brim wall.

And it's time now for their Sunday group. Former Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz, Mo Elleithee of Georgetown University's Institute of Politics and Public Service, Marie Harf, co-host of "Benson and Harf" on Fox intelligence Radio, and Jonah Goldberg of "The National Review."

Congressman Chaffetz, there was an titillating evolution in the last pair of days. A few -- three, as I could them, Senate Republicans who were up for re-election in 2020 are now birth to smash with the president and say, they need to reopen the government. Cory Gardner of Colorado, Susan Collins of Maine, Tom Tillis of North Carolina.

How achieve you see this shutdown ending? When achieve you see this shutdown ending?

JASON CHAFFETZ, CONTRIBUTOR: Well, I wish I could own that magic ball to bid you exactly what it is, and I hope it's sooner rather than later. But I deem the Democrats own really attach themselves in a tough box because the president is on the side of national security, protecting their brim and doing what the federal employees, the brim Patrol, wants to do. They had 60,000 people they apprehended in November coming across the border. And when the brim Patrol goes out and says, they own to own some sort of impediment, something that will leisurely them down, some sort of wall or barrier, where we've done it in the past it work, that's a compelling argument.

And I'm sensitive to Cory Gardner, who's a august member of the United States Senate, but now is the -- Congress always gravitates to deadlines and pressure points. And that's what I deem is ultimately going to secure this solved is the need, the want to solve this now rather than continuing to punt it down the road.

WALLACE: Mo, are the Democrats the one who were in a hollow and are going to need to secure out of it?

MO ELLEITHEE, CONTRIBUTOR: I don't deem so. I deem most Americans would accord that this is the president's shutdown and that the president is basically holding hundreds of thousands of federal workers hostage over -- over this. And it's not just them. It's the people who shrink with the federal government, people who aren't getting paid, people who are worried about paying the bills, people who are worried about paying their rent, people who may secure stuck at airports. This is every bit of -- these are the pressure points that are really going to budge this.

And I deem to squawk that you're going to continue this for years over an argument, an immigration dispute that is actually not proven to breathe effective, that is sort of in -- where there has bene a wall, they own seen breaches time and time again, almost 10,000 breaches among inescapable sectors of the wall that exist now. Rather than taking that money and investing in actual technologies that would provide actual brim security, investigating in more brim Patrol agents, that, to me, seems enjoy a better route to go.

To reserve the government shutdown and rack every bit of these people over benign of a fantasy avow I deem is going to approach back and rack the president.

WALLACE: I'll let you avow about the fencing answer. But -- but, I mean, here's the problem it seems to me. If the -- if Nancy Pelosi were to squawk tomorrow, every bit of right, we're going to give you the money for the wall, she'd breathe thrown out as speaker. Her -- her House Democratic caucus would not stand for that. If the president were to say, you know what, I give up on the wall, his political base, that 39, 40 percent would swirl on him.

Where does the pressure approach and is going to breathe a submission by one side to the other? Are they going to sort of lay down the instruments of war? Or is there going to breathe a compromise that involves something that the president ends up giving to Democrats, whether it's on DACA, the dreamers, people with temporary protected status,, whatever?

JONAH GOLDBERG, CONTRIBUTOR: Yes, so that' -- that's fragment of the irony here, right, is the fight over this is almost purely symbolic now. It is a, if they win, they lose, zero sum understanding that if Trump gets anything he can pretension victory for, Democrats will feel enjoy it's a loss, and vice versa.

The irony is, is that there are serious public policy compromises that could breathe organize here on DACA. There are serious restriction, enjoy my friend designate Krikorian (ph), who argued for, you know, things enjoy e-verify that are much more considerable than a wall. But the problem is --

WALLACE: And, incidentally, e-verify is -- is not --

GOLDBERG: Shut down right now. Yes.

WALLACE: Right. It's shut down as a fragment of the government shutdown. That's the system that -- that people can consume to check as to whether somebody's in the country legally or not.

GOLDBERG: Right. And so I -- to avow the question about the pressure point thing, it seems to me that if you actually halt up -- right now it's a lot of posturing from the TSA and their union. But it seems to me that if - - if -- if airports start essentially shutting down and rip people out and the relaxation of the country start to feel the bite, that is where I deem the pressure really starts to build. That moves markets. That's going to cause congressman to start buckling.

Right now overflowing garbage cans on the mall is not exactly -- I drove past it this morning. It's not exactly enjoy a scene from a Mad Max movie out there. But as time goes by, I deem those are the pressure points. And you can see a lot of senators secure feeble in the knees about it.

WALLACE: every bit of right, I'm -- I'm going to inquire of every bit of of you for a prediction in a moment, but if not for the shutdown, the august political yarn this week would breathe the House going back to the Democrats, Nancy Pelosi regaining the speakership after eight years in the minority, in the first speaker to regain the gavel since Sam Rayburn in the 1950s.

    Here she was on Thursday.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PELOSI: I pledge that this Congress will breathe transparent, bipartisan and unifying, that they will hunt to compass across the aisle in this chamber and across divisions across their nation.

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: Marie, whatever you deem of her policies, Nancy Pelosi is clearly a heck of a politician. How efficient achieve you deem she'll breathe dealing with President Trump on this and other issues?

MARIE HARF, ANALYST: Absolutely. And I -- I deem I was one of those Democrats that underestimated her faculty to win back the speakership with the benign of numbers she got. The fact that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez voted for her in the halt is just a attribute of the fact that she was able to win back that speakership in a route that showed her power and her legislative ability.

The two things the Democratic House own done now legislatively, they've introduced a bill to -- on voting rights, to secure corruption out of Washington, and they've passed bills to reopen the government. So I deem they attach down a marker this week that they are not here to play. They own an agenda. They're going to thrust it forward.

She will have, I think, some challenges bringing together this qualify screen of Democrats who re-won the House in places enjoy Michigan. Elissa Slotkin, coming up later on the show, she's one of them. She is a moderate. She is not an exterminate ICE Democrat. Combine that with AOC and the munificent wing of the party, going into a presidential election --

    WALLACE: AOC, folks --

HARF: That is now how they mention to Alexander Ocasio-Cortez. It's enjoy JFK or LBJ, AOC.

    HARF: Exactly. Thank you.

But I think, you know, if we've seen anything from Nancy Pelosi in the few months since Democrats retook the House, it's that she can bring those members together. And as long as Donald Trump's in the White House, I deem she's going to breathe pretty effective. And she's shown that this week in holding the line.

WALLACE: OK, they got a minute left in this segment and I want to ping-pong back and forth and secure your predictions.

On Friday, as it goes into the 21st day, if it does, the shutdown would breathe the longest in history, midnight Friday. Will we, a week from today, will the shutdown quiet breathe going on? And when it ends, which side is going to breathe seen as winning?

CHAFFETZ: quiet going on and I deem the next pressure point is actually the condition of the Union at the halt of January. I deem if -- you will see some --

WALLACE: So that's enjoy January 29th?

CHAFFETZ: Yes. I deem it will continue on to -- to retract on to that -- to that point.

WALLACE: And who's going to win?

CHAFFETZ: I deem the Republicans are going to win. They're on the right side of the argument.

    WALLACE: OK.

CHAFFETZ: Protecting their borders is the right side of the argument.

    WALLACE: Mo.

ELLEITHEE: I deem it goes on probably for at least a pair more weeks. But I deem the points that Jonah were making and others were making, when this starts to breathe felt in people's homes or in their community or in the airports --

    WALLACE: And who caves?

ELLEITHEE: The president will -- will -- will cave and Democrats will actually find a route to attend him cave a small bit less painfully is -- is what's going to breathe really interesting.

    WALLACE: Marie.

HARF: I actually hope that Democrats secure something enjoy DACA out of this. I don't want this to reserve going on. But, you're right, the more actual people that feel this, people that can't pay rent, if it goes on till the condition of the Union, I deem that's insane. That is crazy.

GOLDBERG: I deem it goes past the condition of the Union --

    HARF: Oh, my God.

GOLDBERG: And I deem the live will begrudge the dead.

No, I deem -- I achieve deem it goes past the condition of the Union and they will find a route for everyone to declare a victory.

WALLACE: Well, that's very sensible. And, actually, I achieve deem that's true. I signify it can't breathe a complete surrender.

    GOLDBERG: Right.

    HARF: Right.

WALLACE: It has to breathe the benign of compromise.

All right, panel, they own to hold a smash here. When they approach back, the live will begrudge the dead. President Trump takes incoming from both sides. A freshman Democrat makes an obscene convoke for his impeachment, and a longtime Republican compete arrives in Washington and wastes no time taking a shot.

And what would you enjoy to inquire of the panel about Mitt Romney's criticism of the president? Just retract to FaceBook or Twitter at foxnewssunday and they may consume your question on the air.

    (COMMERCIAL BREAK)

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SEN. MITT ROMNEY, R-UT: I've laid out time and again places where I disagree with the president.

They are places that relate to the, if you will, forming of national character that I deem they can achieve a better job.

TRUMP: If he fought really hard against President Obama, enjoy he does against me, he would own won the election. Does that acquire sense to you?

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: President Trump responding to a brand-new Senator Mitt Romney, who wrote a controversial article this week adage the president has not risen to the mantle of the office, which understandably got a lot of attention.

And we're back now with the panel.

Congressman Chaffetz, you were -- are a former congressman from Utah. What achieve you acquire of -- of Mitt Romney, before he is even sworn in, having an op- ed in "The Washington Post" that -- that basically says this president is live -- not live up to his responsibilities as president, certainly in the image department, and what's the reaction been back home?

CHAFFETZ: Well, this is not the -- candidate Romney didn't -- didn't talk enjoy this. That's not who he was. He accepted his endorsement in October. In a debate he was asked a question and he said he's putting the past behind him. He looks to working forward.

I deem it was an unforced error. And he was elected to delineate the condition of Utah to solve problems. This didn't solve a problem, it created a problem. I deem it was an unforced error.

WALLACE: Why achieve you deem he did it?

CHAFFETZ: I deem he does believe it. I deem it's in his heart. But -- and I don't deem that it's going to achieve anything to actually budge the meter and accomplish things. I don't -- I don't know why he would achieve it before he was sworn in. I deem a lot of people are scratching their head.

WALLACE: every bit of right. They asked you for questions for the panel and they got a lot of head scratching and reactions on Romney's criticism of President Trump. Mike Johnson sent this on FaceBook. When is he switching to the Democratic Party, because he obviously is no longer a Republican? And Jean Caragher tweeted this, is he positioning himself to challenge President Trump for the 2020 nomination?

Marie, how achieve you avow them?

HARF: Well, in response to the first question, I deem that's actually a problem the Republican Party has, that they -- that there are some member of the party, President Trump's base, that feels enjoy there's not leeway in the public discourse for Republicans to censure President Trump. And if that's the direction the party's going, they will, at some point, no longer breathe a loyal national party and they will breathe the party of the 30 percent Donald Trump base. So I deem what will breathe titillating is what this Senate does as they secure the Mueller report, as things secure more difficult for the president.

I don't deem Mitt Romney's going to challenge Donald Trump in 2020. That's just my instinct. I achieve deem John Kasich might. I deem Jeff Flake might. And a lot will depend on the Mueller report. This is the 800-pound gorilla in the leeway and once they secure that, I deem you'll see some Republicans acquire some decisions about that primary.

WALLACE: Then there was, and they talked about this before with Congressman Cicilline, Congresswoman -- freshman Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and her storm this week on the president, her obscene attack, and President Trump's response.

    Take a look.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

REP. RASHIDA TLAIB, D-MICH.: We're going to retract in there and we're going to impeach the mother (EXPLETIVE DELETED).

TRUMP: I deem she dishonored herself and I deem she dishonored her family.

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: Jonah, this clearly, in the very first week that the House Democrats took over and had done a lot of very observant things in terms of messaging, stepped on their message, the fact that we're talking about it, the fact that cable intelligence has feasted on this. And I think, one, what achieve you deem of that, and, two, the fact that this really witness how much worry Nancy Pelosi is going to own controlling some of the firebrands in her party?

GOLDBERG: No, I deem that's right. I deem there are two issues here. One, the expletive, which she should own apologized for and just moved on. I don't deem President Trump has an gargantuan amount of credibility condemning that benign of language or debasing discourse in any way.

But then there's the actual -- the policy issue, which is the impeachment issue. And Nancy Pelosi's challenge is to achieve something that she didn't achieve very well the last time she was speaker, which is to try to budge legislation that divides Republicans, that peels off Republicans. And the one thing that will reserve Republicans unified, at least for now, prior to the Mueller report, is every bit of this impeachment stuff. If it just becomes -- if the Democratic Party is the antimatter universe version of what you were talking but with the Republican Party, which I deem is a actual concern, of just the anti-Trump party, than that will unify the Republicans.

And so secure -- staying reticent about impeachment is totally in Nancy Pelosi's and the Democrat's long-term interest until there's a intuition to actually talk about impeachment.

WALLACE: I mean, in fairness, they heard Congressman Cicilline today squawk exactly that, and Jerry Nadler, who is the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, which is where this issue of impeachment, if it's going to approach up, would approach up, said the same thing this week.

    GOLDBERG: Right.

    WALLACE: So --

GOLDBERG: But it's a problem. But that's not with the rank and file want, right? In the same route that the Rank and file of the Republican Party wants it to breathe an always Trump every bit of Trump party, the rank and file of the Democratic Party wants it to breathe an always anti-Trump party here.

WALLACE: Well, let me inquire of Mo about that.

One, what achieve you acquire of Tlaib's statement, plus her refusal afterwards to apologize? And how much of a fever is there in the House Democratic Caucus to budge right now and impeach Donald Trump?

ELLEITHEE: So, on the comment, I'd -- I'd -- I'd breathe hard-pressed to disagree with anything Jonah said. The -- I spent a lot of time talking and worrying about the trumpification of politics rite great and that people retract to -- that he has now given everyone license to consume this benign of language and I deem that is wrong and I don't deem Democrats can effectively quarrel against him by acting enjoy him, nor can he censure Democrats for acting enjoy him. So I wish he wouldn't own used that language.

But I achieve deem the bigger issue here is the talk of impeachment.

    GOLDBERG: Right.

ELLEITHEE: And I achieve deem it is premature. I deem most members of House Democratic leadership accord with that. Most members of House Democratic leadership understand that the politicization of impeachment, the route Tom Steyer is doing it, the route some members are doing it, is a very perilous path to retract down. There may approach a time when this is a very germane conversation and Bob Mueller will let everyone know when that time is.

But, until then, Democrats own a policy agenda to push. They've got a presidential policy agenda to stand up to. And they own an election to win. If they want to beat Donald Trump, the best route to achieve that, and own a mandate behind their own agenda, is to beat him at the ballot box. They've shown they can achieve that in 2018 and now they've got to achieve it in 2020. That should breathe where the energy of people enjoy this remains focused.

WALLACE: We've got about a minute left, Marie.

There was a very titillating minute on Friday because President Trump came out to the Rose Garden after his meeting with Nancy Pelosi and said, she assured me there's no interest in impeaching me, and she immediately pushed back and said -- or his staff did and said, she never said that, she just said this meeting is about reopening the government, it isn't about impeachment, which to me indicated that she and her people are very sensitive about the fact of not appearing to tamp down or step on -- not that they're pushing it, but they don't want to -- they don't want to stamp -- tamp down on Democrats who want to impeach.

HARF: I deem that's right, but they always condition it -- always, always -- in the leadership of the Democratic caucus right now on the Mueller report. That they cannot achieve this for political reasons, enjoy it appeared with Bill Clinton or enjoy Tom Steyer is doing. So I deem they will reserve it on the table conditioned on Mueller.

WALLACE: every bit of right. Thank you, panel. see you next Sunday.

Up next, their "Power Players of the Week. We're going to interpose you to two fresh members of Congress and inquire of how they route to compass across the aisle and halt the shutdown.

    (COMMERCIAL BREAK)

WALLACE: With the venerable guard in Washington not getting much done, they met this week with two fresh members of the 116 Congress to secure their fresh ideas. They sat down with Democrat Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, who served three tours in Iraq with the CIA, and with Republican designate Green of Tennessee, who was on the special ops team that captured Saddam Hussein. And they are their "Power Players of the Week."

    (BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

    Welcome to “Fox intelligence Sunday.”

REP. designate GREEN, R-TENN.: We're delighted to breathe here. Thanks, Chris.

REP. ELISSA SLOTKIN, D-MICH.: Thanks for having us.

WALLACE: You both talk about trying to secure things done, trying to compromise, to smash the gridlock in Washington. breathe specific.

Let me start with you, Congresswoman Slotkin. How?

SLOTKIN: Sure. Well, the perfect illustration is the government shutdown right now. They own the basis of a deal, right? Both sides are adage they pervade about brim security. They believe in national security. Start having a actual negotiation about brim security, brim forces, more technology at the border, fencing if they needed it in some areas. It doesn't just own to breathe a wall. That's the essence of a negotiation.

So I deem they can start now if people really pervade about getting something done.

WALLACE: You're talking about the issues, I guess I'm talking more about attitude. Because it's -- you know, there are problems there and people own known about workable deals, workable solutions for a long time, but it never gets done. Why not?

GREEN: I deem what we, as a class, the freshman class, brings, particularly the congresswoman and I, is, you know, a life of service to the country. You know, she's prior military, I'm prior military and they want solutions. And we're just sick and tired of it not happening. And their constituents sent us here to secure it done. So we're -- we're rolling up their sleeves and going to -- going to secure it done.

WALLACE: Well, I want to pick up on that because Congressman Green was a special operations flight surgeon in Iraq, fragment of the capture of Saddam Hussein. You served for years in the CIA, then for Presidents Bush 43 and Obama, a Republican and Democrat. What's the one thing that you deem you can hold from your service in national security and maybe attend you here in Washington?

SLOTKIN: I mean, for me, it's mission, right? You own a mission. And when you're serving in the CIA or military, you wake up every day, you know what you're doing and why you're doing it. And I deem it's no different in Congress. Some people own treated it as if they don't own a mission, that they're there for themselves, they're demonstrate horses, whatever. I deem making positive that people remember that they were elected to secure something done and passed legislation is the most considerable thing.

WALLACE: There are a lot of very well-intentioned people in that building behind me and another it doesn't secure done.

Let's hold the shutdown. The wall that the president says has to breathe a wall or, you know, some version of a wall. You hear Nancy Pelosi squawk a wall is immoral. How achieve you compromise from that benign of rhetoric?

GREEN: I deem they find, you know, some common ground with what is brim security and they secure it done. I signify that's really what they own to do. And, you know, the president has looked at this and has said, this is what they need to achieve and, you know, I'm supporting him in this -- in this effort.

SLOTKIN: I just deem it -- literally, life is about negotiations. There is no one who lives their lives just adage I'm going to unilaterally select what happen. So, negotiate. secure in the room, kick out the cameras and secure something done.

WALLACE: Where are you both on Donald Trump?

Question for you, Congresswoman Slotkin, are the Democrats, particularly in the House, too anti-Trump?

SLOTKIN: I deem the tenor and tone that the president has set is just unbecoming of the country that I love. And, for me, that's critically important. I don't enjoy policy by Twitter, but, to me, just because you're providing a check and equilibrium on the president doesn't signify you don't own a responsibility to legislate and secure something affirmative done. If we're only anti-Trump, they are not doing their job.

WALLACE: On the other hand, congressman, you said during the thrust you can't imagine an issue where you would disagree with Donald Trump.

GREEN: So far every action he's taken has been spectacular, from cutting taxes that created massive growth at least in their condition in Tennessee, to one of the biggest pay raises for their veterans -- their soldiers in -- in ten plus years. You know, I -- I deem the actions that he's taken are spectacular and I can't see an locality where I would disagree with him at this point.

    WALLACE: What about the tone?

GREEN: I deem maybe in some cases there are better ways to squawk things. But, again, I 100 percent support the actions that own been taken.

WALLACE: Over the next two years, and I'll start with you congresswoman, how confident are you that you're going to breathe able to change Washington instead of Washington changing you?

SLOTKIN: I deem the nice thing is, they own over 100 fresh members in a cadaver of 435 people. Any organization with that many fresh people, the culture changes. So I'm not adage it's going to breathe easy, and I've seen it already, you know, that sucking sound of people trying to secure you to breathe very political, you know, salute the party instead of the country. You've got to breathe sturdy enough to thrust back. And that happens when you own people that you can link arms with and say, no, we're not going to achieve it that way, and I deem they own that.

GREEN: I came from a dirt road in a small pastoral town. My friends are not going to let me retract off the rails. Many years in the military. You know, the night stalkers that I went to combat with are going to breathe on the phone with me saying, Mark, what -- what are you thinking if I -- if I achieve acquire the wrong determination or retract the wrong way.

Tip O'Neill and Ronald Reagan would fight enjoy cats and dogs in the daytime and in the evening they'd retract out as Irishmen and own a scotch. And we've got to secure back to doing that. And that's how they become friends. Maybe not agreeing, but -- but those relationships I deem are what's really missing right now and something that I want to breathe a fragment of fixing.

WALLACE: Congresswoman Slotkin, achieve you enjoy scotch?

SLOTKIN: You know, I'm going to hint Michigan beer. You might want to try it. But --

    GREEN: Tennessee whiskey.

WALLACE: every bit of right. We'll leave it there.

You see, can't even accord on that.

    SLOTKIN: Never.

WALLACE: Congresswoman, congressman, thank you both.

    GREEN: Thanks for having us.

WALLACE: expedient luck. We'll own you back and see how it goes.

    GREEN: Sounds good.

    SLOTKIN: Thanks for having us.

    GREEN: Thank you.

    (END VIDEOTAPE)

WALLACE: And they wish the two of them the very best as they continue to serve their country in their fresh roles.

And that's it for today. own a august week. And we'll see you next FOX intelligence SUNDAY.

Two Viable Open Source NAS Solutions | killexams.com actual questions and Pass4sure dumps

It's hard for many IT managers to even deem using open source software to handle anything remotely critical to running the business. That especially applies to storing company files in a answerable and manageable fashion.

But choosing open source as a platform does offer some attend in solving both budget and user needs. In the case of NAS solutions, you secure to pick what hardware to use, and you own lots of options when it comes to customization.

The two options under consideration in this article are FreeNAS and OpenFiler. Both own been around for a while and own many of the features you would expect in a business-class storage system. While FreeNAS is completely open source, OpenFiler has taken the approach of offering a groundwork system for free but charging a fee for some additional features. You can quiet attach together a usable system with the free version, but you might want to deem some of the paid options for the improvements they offer.

There are a number of other open source NAS solutions out there, but these two seemed to own the most dynamic evolution and most enthusiastic user base.

    Installation

To test the two distributions, they used a system based on an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor and an ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 motherboard, which has support for up to four 6 Gb/s SATA disks. For the system disk, they were provided with two of the fresh Seagate 500 GB SSHD hybrid drives and used one for each installation. They used Seagate Barracuda 2 TB drives for the data disks. For the benchmarks, they used a sole data drive for testing both distributions in order to compare the same hardware.

FreeNAS is definitely the easier of the two to secure up and running. After downloading the latest distribution (8.3.0) and burning the .iso file to a CD, it takes only another ten to fifteen minutes from start to finish to own a working system up and running. Most of the default options are reasonable and secure you started quickly using the system. The documentation does recommend doing things enjoy changing the default administrator password before you achieve anything else.

OpenFiler (version 2.99) was a bit more of a challenge to secure to the same usable condition as FreeNAS. One tip here is to acquire positive you start with spotless disks as OpenFiler doesn't hold too well to existing file systems. The documentation on the OpenFiler website is a bit sparse, but they organize several expedient tutorials available on the Web. A quick search for installing OpenFiler on Youtube brings up a number of videos.

To configure OpenFiler, you must own some character of user authentication enabled. This can breathe a local instance of LDAP, which is provided but not enabled or configured. You must complete this step and then establish a group prior to creating your first user. Once you own a group created, you will breathe able to create users to attach into that group. Creating a shared volume requires about the same number of steps. In the final step, you must create a shared folder and then enable it, as it is set to disabled by default. You must besides enable CIFS before you'll breathe able to participate files over a Windows network.

    Management

Both FreeNAS and OpenFiler consume a Web-based management interface to control every bit of aspects of the file server. FreeNas comes much more ready-to-run, so you might not own a need to walk through as much of the interface as you would with OpenFiler. From a user interaction perspective, it seems easier to accomplish the different tasks in the FreeNAS Web interface. It besides seems much snappier than the OpenFiler interface. FreeNAS has a nice graphical system status screen (Figure 1) showing everything from disk performance and percentage usage to network bandwidth.

There is an dispute from a security perspective of "default nothing" for any setting that might open up an insecure path to your storage system. In this light, OpenFiler shines intellectual as it takes this approach to the extreme. design 2 shows the Network host access screen where everything is initially set to No for access. You own to manually change these settings on any fresh participate to allow access. The Web management interface does acquire it workable to achieve everything necessary to reserve the NAS running, including opening up an SSH terminal to the system.

    Performance

Figures 3 and 4 demonstrate the output of the Crystal Diskmark instrument connecting to a shared drive for FreeNAS and OpenFiler, respectively. Figures 5 (FreeNAS) and 6 (OpenFiler) demonstrate the iSCSI performance. While OpenFiler was behind FreeNAS in the setup and management categories, it came out ahead in the performance test. Both the iSCSI and SMB file shares showed higher throughput numbers for OpenFiler.

FreeNAS allows you to attach an entire physical device to an iSCSI target, which should augment the overall performance you can get. One of the commercial offerings from the OpenFiler group is an iSCSI plugin that is reputed to deliver even higher numbers. They did not obtain this plugin as the goal was to compare the two distributions based on freely available software.

    Bottom Line

From a management and ease-of-use perspective, the FreeNAS distribution definitely stands out over OpenFiler. Both projects are in dynamic evolution with fresh releases coming out at regular intervals. This should provide an extra even of solace to any IT manager looking at the possibility of going with an open source solution for storage. Both offerings provide a wealth of options and should toil well once you secure them up and running.

ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DY and FX705DY: Latest TUF Gaming laptops feature next-gen AMD Ryzen processors, Radeon graphics, NanoEdge displays with FreeSync technology, and the latest connectivity options (Photo: trade Wire)

Taking Ryzen and FreeSync on the road

AMD’s Ryzen processors own taken desktops by storm, and TUF Gaming laptops lead the deployment of the newest version. Otherwise known as Picasso, this 2nd Gen Ryzen Mobile APU is built with industry-leading 12nm technology. The Ryzen 5 3550H chip powering FX505DY and FX705DY boasts four cores and eight threads that deliver capable performance for well-liked games and everyday work. Multithreaded performance is particularly strong, yet the processor fits into a 35W power envelope that doesn’t compromise battery life.

Vega-based integrated graphics allow the APU to power the laptop every bit of on its own, which helps conserve power and extend battery life to over seven hours of 1080p video playback on FX705DY and nearly six hours on FX505DY. Discrete GPUs are where it’s at for proper gaming so when it’s time to play, AMD Switchable Graphics tech automatically activates the laptop’s discrete Radeon RX 560X. The GPU pumps out smooth frame rates in mainstays enjoy Fortnite and Overwatch, as well as esports classics enjoy League of Legends and Dota 2.

Displays on most affordable gaming laptops are stuck with a fixed refresh rate, but FX505DY and FX705DY consume FreeSync variable refresh rate technology to match the display’s refresh rate with the GPU’s frame rate. Synchronizing these components eliminates visual tearing, cuts input lag, and reduces stuttering to heighten the overall gaming experience.

FX505DY packs a 15.6-inch FHD IPS-level display, while FX705DY features a 17.3-inch panel. Both feature the narrow-bezel NanoEdge design, and own wide viewing angles to reserve the colors vivid even when viewing the display off-center. Although both offer panels that operate within a FreeSync ambit of 40-60Hz, only FX505DY has a high-refresh option that goes from 48-120Hz to offer smoother performance at higher frame rates. The 60Hz panel is august for gamers who play more graphically demanding titles where sky-high frame rates aren’t realistic for this class of system. The 120Hz alternative is recommended for fast-paced shooters enjoy CS:GO and Overwatch.

    Keeping it frosty and strong

When the action heats up, TUF Gaming laptops stay cool, thanks to a specially-designed thermal solution keeps internal temperatures in check and maintains consistent performance over time.

HyperCool technology keeps the CPU and GPU frosty with independent fans for each chip. As the fans spin, special anti-dust tunnels on the edges of the housing tangle and direct particles out of the laptop to obviate them from clogging up the cooling. This prevents dirt from building up on the heatsinks and exhaust grills, which can impede cooling enough to impress not only performance, but besides long-term reliability and stability.

Regardless of the color and material, FX505DY and FX705DY meet military-grade MIL-STD-810G standards for toughness. Strenuous testing ensures they can withstand extreme environments, ambient vibration, and fortuitous knocks. Both models shrug off short drops to a desk, and FX505DY is certified to survive higher falls. The hexagonal design on the bottom of the laptops adds structural rigidity and deserves some of the credit for their toughness.

    Kitted out for combat

Gaming is harder on a laptop’s keys than regular typing, and the keyboards on FX505DY and FX705DY are worthy of the TUF Gaming name. The HyperStrike deck brings a desktop-inspired layout with separated blocks of office keys for easier recognition and a plenary numeric keypad for faster number crunching even on the 15-inch model. In addition, there’s a wider space bar, offset arrow keys, curved key caps, and highlighted WASD keys.

The keyboard is backlit as well, with Red Matter versions of FX505DY and FX705DY providing a red glow that mirrors their trim, while Gold Steel models feature customizable RGB lighting. The RGB colors and effects can breathe tweaked with the Armoury Crate utility, which unifies vital functions enjoy lighting control, system monitoring, and configurable game profiles that automatically load preferred system settings.

Plugged in and ready to play

TUF Gaming FX505DY and FX705DY feature Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) as well as onboard Ethernet for lower latency for serious multiplayer matches, and three USB ports to connect to external storage without unplugging a gaming mouse and gamepad. Both models deepen gaming immersion with DTS Headphone:X ® technology that brings 7.1-channel virtual surround sound to stereo headsets or speakers. Gamers can select between built-in presets for games, movies, and sports or achieve hands-on tuning with the embedded equalizer.

FX505DY and FX705DY can breathe hooked up to a monitor or TV via HDMI 2.0. FreeSync works over HDMI with compatible displays, extending smoother gaming to even bigger screens.

    TUF where it counts

TUF Gaming FX505DY and FX705DY laptops amalgamate a cocktail of AMD components and technologies to elevate the gaming experience. Combining a Ryzen APU with discrete Radeon graphics and a FreeSync display checks every bit of the right boxes for gamers looking to acquire the most of their budget.
